If you’re searching for a great San Francisco Russian manicure, you’re in the right place! I’ve explored several salons in the city, and I’m sharing my honest reviews to help you find the perfect fit. I first discovered the wonders of the Russian manicure when I was living in New York City. An influencer I followed raved about the technique, claiming it transformed her nails, making them stronger and allowing them to grow long. As someone who is incredibly particular about cuticle care, I was intrigued.
You see, I’ve always prioritized cuticle work during manicures. I find that at many traditional nail salons, this step is often rushed, leaving my cuticles dry, ragged, and even a bit bulky. The appeal of the Russian manicure lies in its primary focus: meticulous cuticle work. The technique emphasizes precise cleaning and smoothing of the cuticle bed, resulting in a flawless finish. The polish application is also a game-changer, applied so close to (and even slightly under) the cuticle that it lasts significantly longer.
After moving from NYC to San Francisco, my quest for exceptional cuticle care led me to explore the Russian manicure scene here. While it wasn’t as prevalent as in New York, I’ve found some gems.

The Best of Russian Manicurists: Sabrine at NailDar
Without a doubt, Sabrine (NailDar) is the absolute best Russian manicure I’ve found in San Francisco. Trust me – I’ve tried 6+ different manicurists in SF alone, plus several in New York, and Sabrine’s attention to detail remains unparalleled. Beyond her technical expertise, Sabrine is a wonderful person, and I love supporting her female-founded business.
In late 2025, Sabrine moved from her home-based studio into a beautiful new salon in the Richmond District (located on 17th Ave). I recently visited her at the new space and was quickly reminded why she is the best. NailDar also offers Advanced Pedicures which is a deeper pedicure process designed to address specific nail and skin concerns such as severe calluses, nail reconstruction, cracked heels, corns, and more.
Why I love it: Exceptional skill, meticulous cuticle work, supports a female entrepreneur.
The challenge: While the salon has expanded, Sabrine herself still gets booked up very quickly.

What’s New in 2026: The good news is that she has hired and trained two additional team members. This means overall availability at the salon has expanded, so you have a much better chance of snagging a spot even if Sabrine’s personal calendar is full. I feel confident in trying other manicurists that have been trained by Sabrine given her committment to providing the best.
Getting There from the Marina: For my fellow Marina residents – the commute is easy. I take the 28 bus from the Marina (Fillmore & Lombard), and it’s a ~30 minutes door-to-door.

Convenient and Consistent: Zorina Nail Studio
Zorina Nail Studio is a popular choice, with locations in the Marina (Union Street) and North Beach. This salon is a solid option, and its main advantage is convenience. They offer ample appointment slots, making it easier to find a time that fits your schedule and have a quite a few manicurists.
Why it’s good: Convenient booking, multiple locations, generally good results.
A caveat: I’ve visited Zorina several times and have experienced some variability in skill level among the manicurists. While they all do a decent job, I’ve noticed that some use a different type of cuticle tool (a standard cuticle clipper instead of the small cuticle scissors I prefer), which I find less effective for Russian manicures. Zorina offers different levels of manicurists (junior vs. senior), which likely accounts for some of this variation. Bookings with more junior manicurists are priced less.

BeautyZona: Russian Manicure in Lower Pacific Heights
BeautyZona (insta, appointments), located on Divisadero Street in Lower Pacific Heights, is another solid option for Russian manicures in San Francisco. I’ve visited this salon twice and have been pleased with the results. Their skill level is comparable to Zorina Nails, and they also offer good appointment availability.
Why it’s a good option: Quality manicures, flexible scheduling.
The drawback for me: This salon is a bit further from my home in the Marina (about a 25-minute walk compared to Zorina’s 8-minute walk), which makes it less convenient for regular visits. It’s my go-to backup when NailDar and Zorina are fully booked.
