I stumbled across Sacred Spaces by Carley Summers in my library. I loved the unique approach to sharing interior design. It wasn’t about the things in each of the homes, but about the stories of the owners, and how creating a home is really an environment. And that’s what most of us are seeking to create and turn our own homes into, a sacred space.
The book showcases different homes and asks each person(s) a series of questions, both about their life and home, pivotal moments in their journey. There was a lot of wisdom tucked in the pages, hearing about where each of these successful people had trials in their life.
In one of the interviews, with Francesa, part of the wisdom she shared was “I’m not young and I feel like my story is only just beginning….You don’t need a big story. You can look forward to the story that’s about to unfold.” Being the same age as Francesca, I really loved that sentiment.
A common theme throughout many of the responses to the question “If there is one part of your story that you think would set another free, what is it?” – and many of the interviewees included listening to your-self and not outside opinions, really looking inward. “When listening to our instincts becomes more than just a practice, and, instead, a way of life.”
Of course, they all had beautiful homes that were each very different and reflected their own unique style and personality. A few of my favorites…
